Trauma · Critical emergency

What should I do if my cat falls from a high balcony (High-Rise Syndrome)?

Immediate actions — first 60 seconds

1. Gently slide the cat onto a flat, rigid board or inside a padded carrier.

Inspect for pneumothorax (collapsed lung), abdominal bleeding, or jaw fractures. Seek emergency diagnostic imaging even if the cat appears able to walk.
