Papagos & Cholargos
Local Info
Papagos and Cholargos form a single municipality — the Municipality of Papagou-Cholargou. Its Public Health Promotion Department (Stray Animal Care Office) runs the local programme for stray dogs and cats: collection, veterinary care, sterilisation, vaccination, microchipping and adoption.
Stray or injured animal on the road
- Keep yourself safe first — pull over, switch on hazard lights and stay clear of traffic.
- If the animal is injured, call the municipality's Stray Animal Care Office. They arrange collection and treatment through the municipality's contracted vets.
- If the animal is causing a danger to traffic, or it is out of office hours, call the Municipal Police or the local police station. In an emergency, dial 100.
- Note the exact location (street and nearest junction) and, if safe, take a photo to send with your report.
