What to do if my cat ingests string, thread, or tinsel?
Immediate actions — first 60 seconds
1. If thread or string is visible in the mouth or protruding from the anus, DO NOT PULL IT.
Pulling string anchored internally can slice through intestinal walls (linear foreign body perforation). Snip excess exterior length and seek immediate veterinary care.
