What should I do if my cat is unresponsive or collapsed?

Immediate actions — first 60 seconds

1. Check for chest rise and feel for a heartbeat under the left chest wall directly behind the elbow. 2. Extend the neck gently to open the airway.

Wrap the cat firmly in a towel ("burrito style") leaving the head exposed to support the spine, and transport immediately to an emergency clinic.
