What if my dog has a hard, swollen stomach and is dry-heaving (Bloat / GDV)?
Immediate actions — first 60 seconds
1. CRITICAL EMERGENCY: Gastric Dilation-Volvulus (twisted stomach) cuts off blood return to the heart. 2. Transport immediately; do not attempt home treatments.
Do not administer food, water, or anti-gas medications. Call the emergency vet while en route so the surgical team can prepare.
