How to handle a dog experiencing a seizure?
Immediate actions — first 60 seconds
1. Do NOT put your hands inside or near the dog's mouth - dogs cannot swallow their tongues but will exert massive bite force during a seizure. 2. Clear away hard furniture or sharp hazards from around the dog.
Dim room lights and reduce ambient noise. Time the seizure duration. If the seizure lasts longer than 3 minutes or recurs in clusters, transport immediately.
