What to do if a dog is bitten by a snake or venomous insect?

Immediate actions — first 60 seconds

1. Keep the dog motionless to slow venom dispersion through the lymphatic system. 2. Keep the bite site positioned below heart level.

Remove tight collars or harnesses before tissue swelling begins. Do NOT cut the skin or attempt to suction venom. Seek antivenom therapy immediately.
